Ayurveda: Wholistic Science of Health & Happiness Ayurveda literally means 'Science of life.' It is the ancient most natural healing system, regarded as 'Revealed Knowledge'. Ayurveda originated as an integral part of the spiritual science of Vedas, which give a comprehensive insight in to the nature of the universe. It has profound 'wholistic' approach to human health. It recognizes the deep-rooted relation between human body and mind in the process of origin and disappearance of disease. At our center we respect the spirituality and purity behind the Vedic science of Ayurveda. Our simple unit which provides Ayurvedic Nadi- diagnostic and classical panchakarma facilities is located in the precincts of the Shivpuri Ashram from where the eternal principles of Veda, in the form of Fivefold Path, are universally propagated. Our non-profit trust is established in the holy memory of Dharmatma Tatyaji Maharaj to whom the knowledge of Ayurveda and Astrology was given by intuition. We are involved in the non-profit rural Ayurvedic medical help activity of the Ashram. Through this trust free Ayurvedic diagnostic and clinical services are provided to thousands of people of the villages. Many patients suffering from incurable ailments often find solace here. At our center the Ayurvedic Panchakarma treatment is performed in strict accordance with the ancient scriptures and classical Keraliya- tradition. We are also engaged in developing Herb-gardens (Dhanvantri Udyans) whereby rare Ayurvedic herbs are being grown in the healthy Agnihotra atmosphere.

What is Panchakarma?
Panchakarma is an Ayurvedic means of maintaining the equilibrium of mind body and eradicating the toxic substances accumulated in the body. Panchakarmas are regarded as an exclusive treatment of Ayurvedic tradition. It is indicated for both healthy individuals and diseased. A healthy person is advised to undergo a full course of Panchakarmas at least once a year for attaining wholistic health.

Due to the nature of modern life style, food habits, diseases etc. invariably our body becomes dumping ground of unlimited toxic and waste substances.

Individuals suffering from asthma, hypertension, obesity, arthritis, paralysis, chronic problems of the digestive system, rheumatism, spondulitis and skin problems etc. are definitely helped by Panchakarma treatment.

By means of the Panchakarma procedures the toxins lodged even at the lower layer of the body are flushed out and eliminated. These treatments often bring out the deep-rooted origins of diseases to the surface level where they can be treated and cured.

The participants are examined by our resident Vaidyas by means of pulse diagnosis (Nadi chikista) and other modern diagnostic aids. Snehan (Massage using herbal oils) and Swedan (Aromatherapy and steam) are the methods to prepare the body for Panchakarma, the five modes of which are Vaman (Vomiting), Virechan (Purgation), Vasthy (Enema with herbs), Nassya (administration of medicated oils through nostrils) and Raktamokshan (blood-letting).

After undergoing massage (Abhynga ) using specific herbal oils and steam bath (Svedana), Vamana, Virechana & Vasthy are given as per individual needs. Vasthy is an effective treatment for complaints like arthritis, paralysis, numbness in muscles and joints sinusitis, digestive complaints etc. Nasyam is regarded as a purificatory method for elimination of the vitiated Kapha from the skull region. It is effective in paralysis, insomnia, and mental disorders and just for relaxation. It helps stop falling hair and enhances vision. Apart from widely used common panchakarma treatments some highly specialized traditional procedures are also performed. Some of these are Sirovasthy, Taila / Takra Dhara, Navara, Kizhi etc.

PATRA POTALI (Pachakizhi): In Pachakizhi special fresh leaves of medicinal herbs are made in to boluses and heated. They are massaged on the patient's body.

NAVARA KIZHI: Navara Kizhi is also one of the special forms of treatment widely practiced in Kerala ( South India ). The body is made to perspire well through medicated massage puddings in the forms of boluses tied up in cloth bags. Specially cooked rice tied up in boluses are warmed in mixture of medicated Kasayam and cows milk and massaged over the body with adequate pressure and movements as required by the patient. The pressure forces out the contents of boluses. The boluses are re-warmed and applied again and again till the Kasaya and contents of the boluses would have been entirely used up.

FACILITIES: We are making all our efforts of offering a blend of excellent Ayurvedic diagnostic treatment as per individual requirement with genuine Ayurvedic oils and recipes. Simple, clean and comfortable twin sharing rooms with special individually prescribed tridosha and Satvik diet are provided. Each participant is provided, as per the Ayurvedic healer's prescription, personalized Panchakarma treatments like Ayurvedic oil massage, medicinal herb Sauna, special cleansing Vasthy etc. They are also administered genuine Ayurvedic recipes, as per prescription, on daily basis.

During Panchakarma camps the day begins with early morning Vyharuti Homa and chanting of Gayatri Mantra followed by brisk nature walk in fresh air and Solar Salute (Soorya Namaskar). Exactly at sunrise and sunset Agnihotra is performed in the Yoga hall. Morning and evening walks with the Vaidyas will be normally much educative as you will be introduced to a number a medicinal plants growing wild.
